One question I hear pretty often is:
“How long does it take to crochet a blanket?” 🧶
The honest answer is… it depends. But most of the time, it takes a lot longer than people expect.
A crochet blanket can take anywhere from 20 hours to 60 hours or more depending on the pattern, the size, and the yarn being used. Some of my more detailed mandala blankets take many evenings of work before they’re finally finished. ✨
I’ve been crocheting for most of my life, so I’m actually pretty fast with a hook these days. Years of practice really do make a difference. But even working quickly, a blanket is still something that takes patience and time to create.
Crochet is a slow craft, and honestly, that’s part of what I love about it. 🧶💙
Each stitch is made by hand. Row by row, round by round, the piece slowly grows until one day you step back and realize it has turned into something beautiful.

What affects how long a blanket takes? 🧶
There are a few things that can change the time quite a bit:
• The pattern – simple stitches go faster, while intricate designs take more patience.
• The size – bigger blankets obviously mean more stitches.
• The yarn – thinner yarn can create beautiful detail but requires more work.
• Color changes – I love working with color, but switching yarn definitely adds time. 🎨
Every stitch matters, and every blanket slowly builds its own rhythm as it grows.
