๐ธ Introducing Lotus Blossom: The Story Behind My Fourth Crochet Design
There's something incredibly exciting about releasing a new design into the world.
It's a mixture of pride, relief, excitement... and maybe just a tiny bit of nervousness.
Today, I'm so happy to officially introduce Lotus Blossom, my fourth original crochet pattern.
When I first started playing around with ideas for this design, I knew I wanted it to feel different from the patterns I'd created before.
Not different just for the sake of being different...
Different because every new design is another opportunity to learn, grow, and challenge myself.
From the lotus-inspired cups to the flowing lace, Lotus Blossom slowly became exactly what I had hoped it would be... elegant, unique, and full of personality.
By the time I added the final stitch, I found myself sitting back, smiling, and thinking...
"I actually did it."
Those moments never get old.
๐ธ Falling in Love with the Details
One of my favorite things about Lotus Blossom is how unique it feels.
Every design has its own personality, and this one seemed to take on a life of its own as it grew.
There were moments where I'd finish a section, hold it up, and just admire how everything was finally coming together.
Those little victories are what make all the trial and error worthwhile.
They're the moments that remind me exactly why I love designing.
๐งถ Every Design Is a Teacher
One thing I've learned since I started designing is that every pattern teaches me something.
Every.
Single.
One.
As much as I love Lotus Blossom, finishing it also left me feeling inspired.
Not because I thought,
"What's wrong with it?"
But because I started thinking,
"What can I learn for the next one?"
Each design helps me become a little better than I was before.
Sometimes it's discovering a new stitch.
Sometimes it's finding a cleaner construction method.
Sometimes it's realizing there's a different approach I want to explore next time.
That's one of my favorite parts of designing.
I don't expect every pattern to be perfect.
I expect every pattern to help me grow.
If you've been following my design journey, you may have noticed that each pattern has been a little different from the last.
That's intentional.
I want every release to reflect something new I've learned along the way.
And if you've ever frogged the same section three...
or maybe ten...
times and wondered if you're the only one...
Trust me...
You're definitely not. ๐
Even designers spend plenty of time ripping stitches out, scratching their heads, making another cup of coffee, and trying again.
Sometimes the best ideas don't happen on the first attempt.
Sometimes they happen on the fifth.
Or the fifteenth. ๐
๐คญ So... About Design #5...
Naturally, I couldn't wait to start designing again.
Design number five is already on my hook.
Except...
It's become a little unpredictable.
What started as another crochet top has slowly wandered into completely different territory.
At this point...
I'm honestly not even sure it's going to become a top anymore.
And strangely enough...
I'm perfectly okay with that.
One thing I've discovered about creativity is that it doesn't always follow the plans we make for it.
Sometimes you begin making one thing...
and somewhere along the way the yarn quietly whispers,
"Actually... I think we're making something else."
I've learned not to argue.
Sometimes the best ideas are the ones you never planned.
So where Design #5 is headed?
Honestly...
Your guess is probably as good as mine. ๐
๐ The Best Part of This Journey
One of the biggest surprises since I started designing hasn't actually been designing at all.
It's been all of you.
Sharing this journey has become one of my favorite parts of creating.
Not just the finished photos.
The experiments.
The mistakes.
The late-night ideas.
The victories.
The moments when everything finally clicks...
and the moments when absolutely nothing does.
Watching so many of you encourage me, celebrate each new design, leave thoughtful comments, and genuinely get excited about what I'm creating next has meant more than I can ever put into words.
You're not just watching patterns appear.
You're watching me grow as a designer.
And the truth is...
I think that's pretty special.
Thank you for following along, believing in me, and cheering me on through every stitch of this journey.
I honestly have no idea where Design #5 is headed...
But I have a feeling it's going to be an interesting adventure.
And I can't wait to share it with you.
