Serenity Bloom Top Progress Update

Cream-colored crochet lace top pinned on a mannequin featuring shell lace detailing and textured crochet cups in a soft boho style.

One of my favorite things about creating handmade pieces is getting to watch them slowly come to life, row by row, repeat by repeat.

After sharing a quiet cozy morning with the Serenity Bloom Top still resting in my lap earlier today, I thought it would be the perfect time to share a closer look at how the design itself is coming along 💙

The lace section is now nearly complete, with only a few more rows left to go before moving fully into the finishing details and straps. So far, the top measures approximately 38 inches wide and 20 inches long, though I’m still adding a little more length for comfort and balance as the design continues to grow.

Seeing the lace finally pinned into place on the mannequin has been one of those moments where the project suddenly starts feeling real instead of just “fabric in progress.” The soft shell lace has such an airy, flowing texture to it, and I love how the center detailing gives the whole piece structure while still keeping it delicate and feminine 🌙✨

The cups are currently pinned into place while I continue refining the shape, fit, and overall flow of the design. One thing that’s especially important to me when creating wearable crochet pieces is designing around real comfort and real bodies instead of designing only for mannequins first. I want my tops to feel soft, wearable, flattering, adjustable, and comfortable for everyday people while still feeling elegant and beautifully detailed.

The creamy daffodil-toned yarn has also been absolutely perfect for this design. It gives the piece such a soft vintage-inspired warmth that feels delicate without looking overly bright or harsh.

This project has been slowly growing alongside so many other cozy creations lately too… coaster sets, shawls, blankets, head wraps, photography, blog writing, and all the little behind-the-scenes moments that come with building Serenity Crochet one peaceful stitch at a time ☕🧶✨

The Serenity Bloom Top will eventually be available both as a finished handmade piece and as a crochet pattern for fellow makers who would like to create their own version 💙

I’m also still deciding exactly how I want to finish the neck and back straps for the Serenity Bloom Top, and I’d genuinely love to hear what everyone thinks ✨

Right now I’m considering a few different options:

🧶 Soft braided ties

🧶 Long simple straps with a couple rows of hdc for a clean elegant look

🧶 Or stacked shell straps to match the lace and bring more decorative detail into the finish

Part of me loves the simplicity of softer minimal straps, but another part of me keeps imagining delicate shell details flowing all the way through the piece 🌙✨

If you were wearing this top, which style would you choose?

I’m excited to continue sharing progress as it grows, and I already can’t wait to see how the finished lace and straps bring everything together.

More updates coming soon 🌿✨
