Designing My First Crochet Top Pattern: A Textured Boho Piece in Progress

I’m Designing a New Crochet Top… and It’s Almost Ready

I’ve been working on a brand new crochet top, and for the first time, it’s not just something I’m making…

It’s something I’m designing from the ground up.

This piece has gone through more refining than anything I’ve created before. Every section has been adjusted, reworked, and tested until it felt right — not just visually, but in how it fits and flows.

The cups are structured and textured using alternating front post and back post stitches, giving them depth and definition while still allowing them to shape naturally. It creates a subtle, dimensional look that feels both supportive and intentional.

From there, the shaping builds outward in a balanced way, forming a clean triangle without pulling or twisting. It’s one of those details that you might not immediately notice… but it makes all the difference in how it sits and feels when worn.

And then the band…

This might be one of my favorite parts.

It features a flowing lace pattern inspired by the Flower of Life design — something intricate, connected, and light. It adds detail without overwhelming the piece, and it brings a completely different kind of texture into the design.

What I love most about this top is how everything works together.

The structured texture, the shaping, the lace elements… all of it feels intentional.

And for me, that’s the biggest difference.

Because this isn’t just another project.

This will be my first published crochet pattern.

That’s something I’ve been working toward for a long time, and seeing it come together like this feels incredibly rewarding.

There’s still a little more to finish before it’s ready, but I wanted to share where I’m at in the process.

This one is coming very soon 💙💜
